ethan at the bat

Another baseball season under our belts.  Or under Ethan's belt I should say.
He played in a neighboring city league this summer and loved it.  Once again we were blessed with a great team with great coaches, players and parents.

Some of my favorite shots from the season are below.

And he even had a little fan club during one game.
Grandma and Gideon drove all the way over here just to watch him play.
What a lucky guy!

go cards!

We've been fortunate to see two Cardinals games so far this summer.
We love it every time we go.
The past two times we've been given really great tickets, so we are feeling very spoiled!

St. Louis is celebrating its 250th birthday this year, and there are these cakes all over the city, so we try to hunt them down and get pictures of them.
So far we've only got two though.
It's been a very busy summer.

Documented: April 2013

April.
So long ago I can hardly remember it.
Although I feel a bit like I'm reliving it right now.
It involves baseball, flag football, school activities, and even guacamole!
Seriously, this was a fun month too.
A very busy month with all the activities filling up our weekends.
But fun.

baseball

I think I mentioned that Ethan started baseball practice in January, and we are in full swing now.

He L.O.V.E.S. baseball.
He has no doubt that he will play for the Cardinals when he grows up.
That's after he and three of his friends finish playing football in college.
You gotta be well-rounded, ya know.

He has a really great coach and team this year, and it's so much fun to watch him play.

He has been playing his much-desired position of first base for the past two games and has been doing a great job - most importantly having so much fun with his teammates.

And no game is complete without sliding into a bag of sand at some point, right?
I'm pretty sure I should buy some stock in Clorox.

mini golf and baseball

My parents were here for a few days last week to watch the boys play baseball.
It was in the upper 90s everyday, but we managed to get some
fun activities in.

One of those was mini golf.

|{We tried to win the free game at the end}

{No luck either time}

At least the baseball games were in the evenings, and it cooled off
quite a bit so that we could enjoy those without sweating to death.

the great american pastime

Baseball is still in full swing here at the Weiler house.  We've become familiar with several different batting cages and impromptu practice fields.

Elliott's team is the Redbirds.
He is learning a lot, and was very proud of himself for hitting in the 55 mph cage the other day.
He usually plays the outfield, but prefers 2nd or 3rd base.
There is too much down time in the outfield when you're playing kid pitch.

And it's pretty difficult to hit the ball when you're playing kid pitch,
but he does a really good job watching and not swinging unless it really
looks like a strike.
We've had lots of walks and we're good with that!

His coach gave him the game ball at the last game.
So proud!!

Ethan's team is the O'Fallon Tigers.
His coach is a huge Mizzou fan.
This is his first, and probably only, year of machine pitch.
He wants to stay with his team,
and they are moving up to kid pitch next year.
It's kind of difficult to get used to the machine, too.
Hence, the batting cage visits.
Seems like almost half of his games have
been rained out, so it looks like we may
be playing baseball into August :)

And this is what we do at our brother's games.
