Documented: August 2013

August.

One of the boys' most favorite and least favorite months all in one!

Most favorite because they get to go to the Cisne Reunion, which is like one of the best highlights of the summer.  I loved it as a child, too.
Of course, that was when it involved real amusement rides.
I remember watching all day out the window at the funeral home (for those of you who don't know, we lived above the funeral home my dad owned for the first 4 years of my life and then we spent lots of time there growing up even after we moved to our house).....anyway, I remember watching out the window because I had the perfect view of the carnival workers setting up the carousel.
I'm sure I bugged my parents all day long to go ride it.
I still like going over during Reunion time - it's nostalgic for me, of course, but I really like seeing everyone again and catching up.
So I'm glad the boys like it too.

And the worst month, too, of course, because school begins again.
Don't get me wrong.  We are all always ready for some routine again after freer summer months.
But I think the boys would choose a different way to introduce routine back into our lives.

Summer - otherwise known as the non-blogging period

Once again it's been months since any kind of communication was alive on here.  Sorry.

But today, a summary of our summer.  Definitely fun and memorable.

 Fresh eats

Funny story - saw my oncologist at the strawberry patch when the boys and I went one early morning. It was fun to meet his family!

 My VBS fearless co-leaders

Loved the hydrangeas all summer.  Still loving them now in more of a fall hue.

Baseball was fun for all of us this summer - definitely Ethan's sport right now.

The boys were in the Mulan, Jr. musical at our church in June.  I didn't even give them a choice about doing it.  I wanted them to try something different and they were pretty cooperative about it and ended up really really enjoying the whole week and looking forward to next year.

The bottom picture of the two was Ethan's favorite scene because his role was to bump into the guy in front of him causing a domino effect where they all pretty much fell over.

 Father's Day at the pool

 Church camping trip.
Awesome time with friends canoeing, a little hiking, etc.
And this was the beginning of Ethan's passion for fishing!

Oh, you're not in the Green Pants Family?
I'm not either but wish I was.

 I don't know.
This is the maturity level we deal with around here often.

One of Grandma and Grandpa's visits this summer.
I think this was after Elliott's baptism.

Almost every Wednesday was spent at the Muny.
Mary Poppins was our favorite with Les Miserables coming in second.

Poor Ethan was my "subject" many days this summer.

Air Soft goggles are way cool.
Lots of Air Soft wars this summer.

a trip to Wyoming for B and I

The boys made a rope ladder with Grandpa while we were out West.

Brian roped me into doing this 5K at the Cisne Reunion and before we knew it almost our entire family had signed up for it.  It was fun but I'm glad it's over.  Still being debated whether I will do another one.

And my dad even got a medal for his age group at the 5K!
(And yes, we did eat biscuits and gravy after running 3 miles - doesn't everyone?)

The best announcement of the summer.
And most creative baby announcement I've seen.
Amber and Rob secretly gathered all of the nephews, wardrobed them with these football jerseys and then quickly lined them all up and waited for the rest of us to figure out what was going on.  A lightbulb finally went off and we realized what they were telling us.
It's a little blurry, but the jerseys lined up say "Cousin Drake Joins Our Team 1-15-14"
Yay!!!  So excited for them!

My 20 year high school reunion
Very fun catching up with these friends!

Wabash Days with friends.
Can't miss Wabash Days.

And now we're back to school, heavily into football, playing soccer, working, volunteering, etc.
Hopefully I will have pictures soon!
