Documented: September 2013

This is the most recent layout I've done.
You noticed that they're not in chronological order, huh?
When I was getting ready for the crop a few weeks ago I put pictures I wanted to use into monthly folders that were ordered alphabetically and I went with it.
It goes a little against my OCD.....I usually like things chronological but it's all good.
And now I'm choosing by the number of photos and how much time I have in a sitting.
Or just what I'm in the mood for :)

My favorite picture here is the buttered nose, of course.  Can't believe he is 11!

My favorite element on this one is the September card.
I love that font, and wish it could be my own someday.

Documented: December 2013

So I did 3 layouts for the month of December, because so much happens in that short little month.
I will be posting the Christmas in Florida page soon (hopefully).
This layout is everything not directly related to Christmas gatherings and trips that we want to remember about this month.
I'm liking the chalkboard circle with the white lettering on these layouts.

the year we only went to school half the winter

Our view out the front door this morning.
There is a porch and sidewalk and driveway deep down in there somewhere.

And out the back door

I believe this is snow day number 8 for us.  Luckily the school board voted to stop making them up after number 9 so that we won't spend our summer at school.

I actually like looking at snow and watching the kids have fun in it.
I don't like the cold temps that come along with it.
Nor do I enjoy driving in it.
But I believe I am in the minority when I say that I like snow days.
I like how they force you to slow down and stay home.

Today I gave up my job of shoveling the drive.
I even bought an extra snow shovel yesterday in anticipation of my retirement.
In fact the only time I went outside was to take these pictures.
Oh and to plead with them about 36 times to keep the shovels away from the car.
They loved that and never once rolled their eyes!

Their friends decided to help so that Minecraft could resume as quickly as possible.
Because that's what you do on a snow day around here.

Documented: February 2013

I spent the weekend with a couple of awesome friends a couple weeks ago, and our goal was to scrapbook.  I've ditched the paper and glue pretty much and am opting for the digital supplies these days.  I'm on the fence about whether it's faster or not.  It probably is once you get the hang of it, but I don't do it enough to be that quick.  But it is definitely easier that carrying all of those supplies around, and I love that you have an endless supply of whatever you need.

Anyway, my own goal was to do one layout for each month of last year.  I had started 2013 with the thought that I would do weekly pages.  That lasted 5 weeks.  I'm back to monthly.  That's just what I can do - plus I really feel like I won't want tons of books to look through in 20 years.  I will be happy with a few.  Especially in my quest to minimalize and declutter around this place.

I'm afraid I've been a bad friend, though.  I was asked by my friend to share what pages I had done at the crop before I left.  I promised her I would.  I left without sharing.  Bad friend.

Trying to make up for that by sharing on here a little each day for a while.
