365 | fifty

{one}

I snapped this really quickly on this morning when I looked down and saw that the temperature was 1 degree.  It's out of focus and all kinds of things wrong with it.  And it's like the third time I've used my phone instead of my big camera like I had planned.  But the context was perfect for the prompt and I wanted to remember how cold it was that morning - which is actually deceiving since it's always warmer in the garage and the temperature reading in the car always dips down after we start driving.  I'm sure it was in the negative digits.

flashback to fourth grade

Air quotes

Apparently it's the "cool" thing in 4th grade.
Or at least with this 4th grader.
At least
There is rarely a conversation with him that does not involve the appearance of this face and hands to illustrate his point.

365 | twenty-eight thru forty-nine

I've been trying to catch up with the 365 images by posting a few a day, but I'm realizing that even at that pace, I am so behind that I will still probably be posting snow pictures in May.
So I'm posting a big catch-up post here without all of the dialogue...just images.
And then I will try to be better about keeping up and posting more detailed versions in the future.
You're good with that, right?  Awesome!
Also, I really do keep up with it daily on Instagram, so follow me there if you want!
Here we go.

365 | twenty-seven

{workspace}

I spend a good amount of my time here.
Editing photos
Answering emails
Working on lessons for children's ministry
Scheduling for children's ministry
Budgeting
Paying bills
Planning and organizing
Juggling calendars
And many other tasks required to run a household.

Note the roll of film on the desk.
Found that in a camera that I doubt had been touched since 2005.
Trying to decide if I want to try to develop it or not.
Crazy.

{technicalities}

I really like this image and the soft tones.  My favorite part of it, though, is that you can see the light and the blue sky from the window reflecting on the monitor.

{what inspires me}

It's actually what inspires Elliott.
He loves creating music.

{technicalities}

I like the composition and placement of the focus so that Elliott is out of focus but you can still tell that he is working on the computer.  Also happy with the way the camera angle of the Machine creates leading lines to Elliott.  I do wish that the angle showed more of what the Machine looked like from the top instead of just from the end, but I liked the leading lines better.  I also like the contrast of the blue in his sweatshirt with the black on the Machine and the green on the walls.

{technicalities}
I don't remember if I focused-recomposed with this or not, but I most likely did and think that I should have toggled the focus point instead since I was shooting with such a wide aperture.  I don't like the glowing highlights on the wrapper and feel like the focus is very soft because of the wide aperture.  I was probably shooting this very late afternoon and would have been better to just wait until the next morning.

365 | twenty-four

{a selfie}

I like to hide behind the camera often.

{technicalities}
This image is nothing spectacular to me.  The focus seems pretty good, but the composition is nothing to write home about.  Subject right in the middle of the frame.  I do think the white balance isn't bad for having a few different lighting sources in a very dark bathroom.  I wish the background was more simple.

On a side note, I can see in this picture why I have an issue with images being crooked - the way I'm standing with one shoulder up definitely makes it so easy to do that.  I can even see that the camera is crooked in this image.  Hold it straight, lady!
