quotes of the day

{This morning at school}

Ethan:  "Ms. W, did you wear your clown shoes today for Circus week?!"

Ms. W:  "No Ethan, these are just my rainy day shoes!" (they were red crocs with no holes)

Ethan:  {insert cheesy grin with and "oops" look on his face}

{Tonight getting ready for bed - and you have to picture him in the bathtub with his goggles on to get the full effect}

Elliott:  "Did someone say El...Ethan?"

Me:  "No."

Elliott:  "Hmmmm.......must have been the Holy Spirit whispering in my ear." (with a totally serious and excited look on his face - the BEST part)

random april photos

Free food with friends on Easter

Casting Crowns in concert (did I mention that it's been so long since I've actually been to a concert that I didn't realize that you use your cell phones instead of lighters?  And to top that off, B actually has an app on his phone that makes the phone a lighter - of course!)

the bookshelf my class made for the art auction at our preschool (the blurriness on the sides of the bookshelf is where the kids' names are - just took them off for the blog)

scrapbooking day requires caffeine (and two trips thru the drive thru when you miss the little red box the first time - fun times, girl - you know who you are!)

a stop at one of my favorite spots.....I could literally spend hours in here perusing all the books.

"She thinks I'm furniture!!!" giggles Ethan from under his friends - we love our "siblings" next door!

skateboard lessons have been happening on our street lately

nature

That is the topic of this week's photography challenge that has been hanging on my bulletin board since January.  I think this is the first week I've actually been successful at getting a photo that goes along with the topic.  Of course, it helps when it's spring time in Missouri, because that means lots of thunderstorms and amazing skies.  My favorite is when the sun comes out a little before sunset, with the clouds still out from the storm - everyone should be able to see one of those sunsets.

This was after the tornado sirens had gone off and we were in the clear.....on my way to a Mother's Day event at church but had to stop and take a picture of this.  Doesn't compare to the sunsets, but at least it goes with the topic!

t-ball

This is the picture of pure joy after taking your first swing at your first t-ball game and being so completely thrilled that you hit it out into the grassy outfield that you skipped all the way to 1st base!

A Week In Your Life

There are a few (well, maybe more than a few) blogs that I follow regularly.  Most are related to photography or scrapbooking as well as what I call domesticness (home, garden, cooking, kids, crafts, etc.).

Ali Edwards' website is full of ideas related to photography and emphasizes documenting your life through photography and journaling (scrapbooking).  Anyway, next week she is encouraging everyone to document just one week in their lives - all the everyday, mundane things and all the fun and exciting things and all the disappointing and frustrating things that occur that week (or whatever week you want to do it).

So I thought I'd share the link.  I'm going to try to do this (although I'm still on June from last year's attempt at documenting each day - totally love the new system, just things happen and I'm behind) and thought someone else might also.

just for fun

just playing around with photos and editing and sharing my fun!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!  (It was actually Sunday, but we were there celebrating with them so I'm just now posting)

What a wonderful example of marriage for us!

cutie pie

Got to see this cute guy and his adorable brother this weekend.  He is at such a cute age, starting to say more words and really interacting (and asserting his independence) and still likes to be held and to snuggle - LOVE that!

Sunshine and Happiness

Got back on Sunday from Orlando.....such a great time with family, enjoying sunshine and warmer weather (although it was 90 here today on April 1st!).  I always wish that all of our family could live within a couple of hours of each other - love it if everyone lived in the same place....so it's always sad to go home knowing it will most likely be 6 months or so before we see any of them again.

Here are the most important things to know about our trip.....

1.  "How many more hours?" or a similar phrase was heard 32 times on the trip down.
2.  The iPhone is an ESSENTIAL for Jonica during a road trip of more than 3 hours.
3.  The boys are not into negotiating hotel prices after being in a car for almost 12 hours.
4.  Seeing Nana and PaPa is super exciting:

5.  Being able to leave the door open at Nana's is totally confusing to 5 and 7 year olds......they kept going to the door and shutting it (they have a screened in porch so we could leave the door open to let air in).

6.  Never say "I'm not riding Space Mountain ever again" cause you'll probably end up riding it twice because it all of a sudden makes your husband sick to ride it and your children have declared that it's their favorite ride and they HAVE to ride again.

7.  Ice cream was eaten EVERYDAY.....and it was so yummy!
8.  We had freshly squeezed orange juice every morning thanks to our very thoughtful family.
9.  Trying on crazy hats in Downtown Disney with Aunt (they've started calling Aunt Beth just "Aunt") was so much fun.  First sleepover at Aunt Beth's and Uncle Rick's, too - they were very excited about this - kept asking if B and I were going to leave, wanting to make sure they were going to get to stay without us.

10.  Stepped foot in the Lego Store at Downtown Disney at least 20 times......it's so hard to decide what to spend your money on!

11.  Very fun impromptu game of kickball on Nana and Papa's front lawn....B&J vs. Uncle Rick and the boys....must say sorry to PaPa for all of the leaves he's probably raking again this week after the ball kept flying through the trees!

12.  Jim, Susan, Christian and McKenzie brought over an Easter basket full of buckets, shovels, a kite, Pez, all kinds of goodies for the beach and just to have fun - so sweet of them to do that!  The boys were very excited to fly the kite at the beach!
13.  Got to hang out at the beach.  Made a sandcastle.  Had a picnic.  Buried the boys in the sand.  Flew the kite.  Collected precious seashells.  Fun time.

14.  I really thought Brian might lose his lunch when Ethan declared that he was a Gators fan during the week.  But it was when he asked to go see the stadium where the Gators play that I was sure he was being written out of the will!

So much fun, so little time.  Can't wait to go back!
